"...a new coat of paint on the GENERAL STORE sign with an addition: Marché du Lac."

"Little more than a single counter and a few shelves displaying whatever Louis could scavenge and make presentable: dry goods, cans, candy, alcohol, cigarettes. He'd like to bring in people to sell their own wares just so the rest of the shelves won't look so empty. The storeroom is depressingly half empty. The freezer, moved to an unheated room, is surprisingly full of meat."

Inside, Louis fashioned a small eating area with little round tables and woven chairs. He mostly just reads there.

On aurora nights, he plays jazz records.

Hours: Limited/variable hours during day. Owner/manager in after sundown.

Cabin on a Winter Night wood stove with kettle and boxes dusty books and candle

In September 2024 it burned down due to the Forest Talker attack.

Damn, bitch, you live like this?

"...tiny house in town..."

"...drafty hovel..."

"...wood stove..."

"The house creaks, as old or poorly-maintained houses do, especially when the temperature changes or ice shifts between the cracks."

"There is no sign of food... a cage with fresh bait meant to catch live rats."

"Beyond the necessities, a few simple furnishings, and candles to read by, Louis left most of the previous owners' possessions where they were. Sometimes he mournfully looks at the dusty family photos in their crisp modern colors."

Louis has put some of the previous owners' possessions away and done some necessary repairs to make it more homey for Claudia. It still looks like a grandpa lived in it, though Louis has done his best to contain the plaid.
